Founded in 1998, the South Country Education Foundation is a nonprofit
organization committed to improving educational opportunities for all
students in the South Country School District. The mission of the
Foundation is to promote and enhance educational initiatives by
providing supplemental financial support for projects and programs that
are outside the South Country School budget. The Foundation seeks to
forge a cooperative effort among the members of the community to help
expand educational opportunities and to capitalize on the special
resources we have available in our district.
Since our founding, we have granted over $560,000 to teachers, administrators, students and community groups in our district who have come to us with their innovative and creative ideas. Applications for both the 2014 Teacher Professional Development Grants, and the Winter 2013 Grants are now available. Applications are due back to the SCEF by January 24th. "SCEF grants have been instrumental in augmenting our students' educational experiences. What has been truly amazing is that all of these grants have blossomed into projects that have continued to be supported by the South Country School District. From the professional development training to the purchasing of additional equipment, these grants have continued on. Without the commitment and support from many people, these projects would not have succeeded. The grant recipients and the teachers who participated in these exciting endeavors have made these projects possible." -Maryanne Brandi, Kreamer Street School
